Manages all activities related to day-to-day operations and development of company products while focused on maximizing uptime, throughput, and safety compliance either by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

- Research, order, and maintain necessary supplies to support assigned work and projects.
- Uses mechanics’ tools; wrenches, ratchets, sockets, hack saw, tape measure, and screw driver
- Performs operations of major pieces of plant equipment
- Uses mechanical skills to identify and correct minor mechanical issues with equipment
- Performs stick welding and uses cutting torch
- Understands and interprets drawings or sketches
- Uses electrical troubleshooting skills to identify and correct minor electrical issues with equipment
- Uses voltmeter to perform basic electrical troubleshooting
- Understands the basic principles of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Understands lubrication principles
- Understands and operates electric and LPG/Gas forklifts
- Correctly completes work order forms
- Correctly completes inventory forms
- Follow 6S policies and procedures
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to use job-appropriate tools
- Proficiency in investigating, deducing and recommending corrective actions for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems required.
- High School diploma or equivalent

This role will be responsible for monitoring risks, trending of leading/lagging metrics and developing reports and metrics that will be used to drive accountability and action throughout the site. The role is based in Niagara Falls, NY with responsibility for Norwich, NY plant, requiring limited travel. The position supervises two EHS Specialists; one based in Niagara Falls, NY and one based in Norwich, NY. This position will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing at the Niagara Site.
Must have experience with both leadership and significant PSM safety experience. Chlorine is a definite plus.
Must have PSM (process safety management) and PHA (process hazard analysis) experience

About the role
We are looking for an Engineer - Maintenance to support the delivery of business objectives through the application of defect elimination, root cause analysis, project management, and technical support of on-site maintenance execution, operations and project teams.
This role is an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to make significant contributions to the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of critical assets in order to meet production requirements at the Smelter. Contributions will include but are not limited to:
- Engineering and troubleshooting support of maintenance execution and operations teams
- Identification, ownership and implementation of initiatives to deliver improvements in safety, asset performance, and cost
- Capital project validation and delivery support
- Initiation and facilitation of root cause analysis to mitigate acute and chronic asset failures
- Reconciliation of production loss accounting data
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), or 5 years of equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in engineering maintenance roles
- An ability to work collaboratively in a small team
- Demonstrated experience in delivering continuous improvement initiatives and projects
- Experience with Defect Elimination processes and Root Cause Analysis methodology
- Experience with failure analysis.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience working in a fixed plant environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of SAP or equivalent CMMS
- Lean Six Sigma methodology experience or Black Belt Certification
