Maintenance Planner
Scope:
The primary role of the maintenance planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality by eliminating in advance potential delays and obstacles through proper planning and coordination of parts, machine time and resources.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plans and schedules preventive/predictive maintenance work in coordination with production supervisors and area Advanced Maintenance Specialist according to established priority systems.
- Reviews each work request to see that it has been submitted according to established guidelines.
- Ensures the safety needs are given a top priority in work planning.
- Estimates jobs showing sequence of steps, number of resources and hours required for each step. Verifies the availability of parts, materials and special tools required for work execution.
- Estimates the cost of each work order in terms of labor, materials required and total cost.
- Coordination of available resources while managing department backlog
- Ensures timely and coordinated availability of facilities and equipment to be worked on, parts, materials, and special tools/equipment for orderly and efficient work execution. Provides all documentation needed to perform work
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System tool for tracking and recording of maintenance work and reporting purposes. Provides monthly and weekly reports as needed.
- Maintains a close working relationship with Operations, Stores, Engineering, other Planners, Maintenance Leaders/Supervisors, Maintenance Technicians and general plant personnel.
- Suggests improvements to storeroom operations, organization, etc.
- Assists with maintenance tasks within their scope of ability
- Recommends changes for the preventative/predictive programs.
- Obtains blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed from files or other sources.
- Makes any additional sketches diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify the intent of the work request.
- Follows up on work performed and provides feedback to originators.
- Directs contractor as necessary.
- Participates in safety and housekeeping programs
- Maintains records of mechanics work and vacation schedules. This is required for planning purposes.
- Leads the planning/scheduling process:

- Holds weekly planning meetings
- Identifies & implements opportunities to refine planning/scheduling process
- Consistently seeks feedback from mechanics for ideas/info
- Communicates effectively with maintenance, production, shipping, etc
- Persistently seeks to remove roadblocks that interfere with planning/scheduling process
Performance Measurements
- Timely and accurate preparation and distribution of maintenance measures and reports.
- Improvement in mean time between failures.
- The accuracy of estimates of labor and material.
- The improved use of labor and improved plant condition as expressed by a reduction in emergencies, overtime hours worked and in unscheduled labor worked
Candidates Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in maintenance craft skills.
- Self-starter, motivated and goal oriented. Able to demonstrate good leadership skills and risk management coupled with high tolerance for stress.
- Possess good oral and written skills.
- Excellent computer skills and must be familiar with basic computerized maintenance management systems.
- Possess strong planning, organizational and interpersonal skills.
