Electronics Technician-Cornelius, NC

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our Cornelius, NC manufacturing plant.  The basic function of this individual will be to perform major repairs to the plant as required to keep the plant running productively and effectively.  This indivdual will also determine appropriate maintenance procedures, and perform mechanical and minor electrical repairs on all production machinery, service equipment, building components, etc.





Primary Job Duties:

  • Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems (i.e. those that typically cannot be solved by reference to manufacturer’s manuals or similar documents) in working on electronic equipment. Examples of such problems include location and density of circuitry, electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and frequent engineering changes.
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electric Code.
  • Thorough knowledge of PLCs and programming.
  • Respond to maintenance requests issued via radio or plant PA system with a sense of urgency.
  • Repair, troubleshoot, and maintain all plant equipment form an electrical standpoint. This includes, but is not limited to: fabrication machines, the VPF, material handling equipment, air compressors, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs on all plant machinery.
  • Responsible to make sure parts are available.
  • Ability to program programmable systems and controllers.
  • Work involves a detailed understanding of the interrelationship of circuits; exercising independent judgement in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, tracing relationships in signal flow, and regularly using complex test instruments (e.g. dual trace oscilloscopes, Q-meters, deviation meters, pulse generators).
  • This work may be at any company plant.
  • Maintenance Supervisor may review work for general compliance with accepted practices.
  • Coordination of work of any lower-grade crew member on the same project. Frequent contact with machine operators or supervisors.  Some contact with outside contractors.  Serve as on site contact when outside contractors are performing repairs to equipment beyond the abilities of Maintenance.
  • Assist in minor mechanical repairs with other members of the maintenance team when necessary.
  • No hiring, firing, or discipline.
  • May provide technical guidance and hold training sessions for lower level technicians and/or electricians. Enlists help and provides training with “Instrument/Electronics Technician B” and “Instrument/Electronics Technician C” for repairs.
  • Follow appropriate SOPs and safety procedures
  • Keep work area neat and clean. Clean up debris resulting from repairs, alterations or installations throughout the plant.
  • Overtime and weekend work required as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
  • Make out job cards.


  • Knowledge of PLC – hard wiring and knowledge of how programs work.
  • Work with high voltages and around moving equipment.
  • Lift 40 lbs. from floor, bend, twist, climb, crawl and able to work at heights.
  • Attention to details and good math skills

Shift Hours:

1st  5am – 3:00pm 2nd 3:00 pm-11:00 pm

Education Requirements:

  • Previous Manufacturing Experience Preferred
  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • Two year electrical degree or Electrical Trade School training with proof of completion
