Overview

Allied Reliability is seeking talented individuals for a Process and Controls Engineer opportunity with an industry-leading manufacturer in West Chester, OH. Support the business by providing process engineering and control system engineering skills and resources for all manufacturing plants. Drive business strategy utilizing control system knowledge. Increase reliability of manufacturing facilities via engineering controls. Support and foster business policies and objectives, while ensuring a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • This is a Safety-Sensitive position, meaning the employee is directly responsible for his or her own safety or the safety of other people. “Safety-Sensitive” roles include “any job that includes tasks or duties that the employer reasonably believes could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.”
  • Provide strategic direction and implement system wide business controls logic and plan.
  • Develop and maintain standards for security of process control systems to meet requirements of CFATS and Responsible Care
  • Develop and maintain standards for control system hardware and software.
  • Assist in control system related audits
  • Recommend control system changes and upgrades to keep systems current for all Manufacturing sites.
  • Work with Digitaization group to define and implement systems for secure capture, storage and sharing of historical process data
  • Support programming and maintenance of process control systems, specifically DeltaV, Allen Bradley and OPTO systems.  Includes programming related to new projects as well as regular changes associated with corrective and preventative actions at all Manufacturing sites.
  • Define and implement process simulation software to assist in operator training, new process design and troubleshooting.
  • Support troubleshooting of processes for all Manufacturing sites, especially in regard to controls and control system programming.
  • Assist with the development and administering of training on new and existing equipment and products for manufacturing personnel to ensure product/process consistency.
  • Manage capital projects and provide technical support for the specification, design, purchase, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and retrofits.
  • Participate in Hazop’s and other reviews related to system controls.
  • Define systems for the development and maintenance of control system and program documentation for all Manufacturing sites.  Support sites as needed
  • Define system for maintaining backups of programs as well as process alarm, activity and trend data for all Manufacturing sites. Support sites as needed
  • Optimize plant operations to improve safety, quality, and productivity while lowering cost.  Conduct reviews of process operations to identify opportunities.
  • Develop, improve, and implement production/processing methods that positively impact cost, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Define optimal process operation including documentation of operating procedures.
  • Devise and conduct plant trials to establish areas for improvement. 
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Responsible Care Management System® including the establishment of policies and procedures, assigning responsibilities and tracking progress.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical or Electrical.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Team player with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in programming of Emerson’s DeltaV system, Allen Bradley PLC5 series processors and OPTO system.
  • Ability to travel to all manufacturing sites to support control systems.
  • PC competency, to include expertise in MS Project, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Knowledge of the ISA control standards.

RECOMMENDED:

  • Proficiency in Allen Bradley Micrologix system
  • Competency in analog, wireless and digital communication protocols for instrumentation and control loops
  • Competency with 480 VAC motor circuits/starters and related control circuits.
