Overview

Allied Reliability is seeking a Food techncian to assist Research and Development for a major food manufacturer.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Under limited supervision, executes assigned product development activities (including but not limited to weighing and making batches, product and package quality testing, cost savings, sample tasting/ sensory evaluation, shelf-life review and sample organization) from team in order of priority.
  • Proactively takes next step in experimental design based on results and needs of scientist
  • Primary work area is the R&D Lab and office area and will conduct varied and routine tests in laboratory and production area following recognized procedures.
  • Oversees sample requests for Manawa lab coordinating requests across multiple product categories. Maintains a sample request log, creates labels, makes product and fills packaging, and reviews all outgoing shipments for accuracy. Maintains retains for sample requests.
  • Attends weekly meetings to represent R&D while interacting with cross functional teams.
  • Executes category benchmarking programs and summarizes the data for management review
  • Supports plant trials and first production runs, working with scientists and operations.
  • Communicates results and provide insights of data to supervisor and team as directed.
  • Supports data entry for scientists into recipe management systems (software & excel)
  • Maintain accurate and complete records in all work.
  • Maintain organized lab and ingredients, product & packaging storage areas-- following GMPs.
  • Proactively cleaning and sanitizing areas within the lab, dishes, equipment, etc.
  • Manages email communications and responds in a timely manner.
  • Assist other departments to support business needs (i.e. QA, Micro, etc.) as requested.
  • Back up lab technician absences as needed.
  • Any additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

 Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Communicate effectively and openly while working in a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently
  • Must be a self-starter, independent, energetic and resourceful
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Prefer experience utilizing ERP systems and nutritional software
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

Education:

 

☒High School or equivalent

☒High School plus specialized training (min 6mos-2yrs)/College Certificate
