Allied Reliability is seeking a Reliability Engineer in Traverse City, MI to be responsible for improving operational performance and ensuring the technical reliability of the plant equipment for a dynamic food manufacturer.


Job Summary:

The Reliability Engineer in Traverse City, MI will be responsible for improving operational performance and ensuring the technical reliability of the plant equipment


Job Responsibilities & Tasks:


Manage operational performance and technical reliability


    • Facilitate and participate in OEE improvement initiatives and taskforces
    • Lead and maintain continuous improvement project plans both capital and operational
    • Learn, implement, and teach methodological tools necessary for problem solving
    • Suggest improvement plans for some day to day production and maintenance needs, driven from daily plant production meetings
    • Analyze daily reporting to determine where to plan daily actions to support performance
    • Lead FMEA’s (functional analysis) for existing equipment
    • Participate and carryout actions from FMEA’s (functional analysis)
    • Own the red point (center line) process

Manage the maintenance structure and support tools


    • Build and maintain the asset criticality matrix
    • Participate in creating and updating maintenance procedures
    • Help to define the indicators on the maintenance communications boards
    • Develop the PM ad PdM strategy for new and existing equipment
    • Update PM and PdM strategy for new and existing equipment
    • Evaluate PM and PdM effectiveness and propose updates/edits/deletions (reverse RCM)
    • Own the CMMS definition and improvement modifications
    • Create procedures regarding the use of the CMMS
    • Train others on the proper use of the CMMS

Develop and maintain technical process expertise

    • Responsible to create and keep up to date maintenance procedures for industrial equipment
    • Guarantee relevance of process and technical modifications
    • Participate in qualifying new processes on technical and process aspects
    • Overcome technical issues resulting from industrial trials and/or commercialization
    • Help to define projects that are “to be assessed” based on developed process and internal proposals
    • Define definite scopes for the projects
    • Carry out contractor safety and GMP training for people brought on-site as needed

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience


  • 3 years relevant experience
  • Experience in food manufacturing is preferred


  • MS Office Suite proficient
  • CMMS experience required
  • Provide guidance, feedback and coaching for other plant employees
  • Be a champion for safety, quality and GMP standards, as needed
