The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the mechanical repairs and maintenance of facilities, equipment, buildings, grounds and other functions for continuous operations of the facility.


  • Mechanical systems repair of the functional operations of all areas within personal capabilities and provided resources.
  • Participate in identification and correction of safety, security and environmental issues within the scope of maintenance involvement.
  • Participate and follow directives, instructions, quality improvement and reporting processes.
  • Participate in the troubleshooting, acquisition of resources, tools, equipment, parts and correction of mechanical problem areas.
  • Assist in design, application and installation of new equipment, processes and systems.
  • Assist in the purchase and stocking of spare parts inventory to accommodate the repair and maintenance needs of all areas.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, shop, storage and work areas in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Assure that all jobs are performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for reporting any discrepancies which may occur between functions as detailed in assignments.
  • Responsible for performing assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Assure that all jobs are performed in accordance to recommended maintenance and repair instructions and best practice.
  • Assure that all documentation, reporting and filing functions are carried through for all work performed.
  • Train new Maintenance mechanics in all areas of the plant.
  • Responsible to achieve Maintenance Mechanic objectives agreed annually.
  • Supports and actively participates in the Site’s development along corporate guidelines.
  • Follows all Company policies & procedures and all site health, safety, security and environmental rules.
  • Assures conformance with Company policies & procedures and all site health, safety, security and environmental rules.
  • Actively participates in EHSS programs (i.e. take care observations, safety training, toolbox talks, incident reporting & investigation and safety walks).
  • Performs/supports other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management and support other employees as necessary in a team effort.



  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Applied Science or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience (>3 years) in mechanical, thermal and chemical separation and conversion equipment and processes in a manufacturing or chemical processing plant preferred.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to read and interpret technical publications, manuals and blueprints as well as apply their use to repair and maintenance functions.
  • Knowledge of SAE and Metric standards of weights and measures.
  • Basic electrical knowledge in an industrial environment.
  • Good organizational, reporting and personnel skills.
  • Understand the fundamentals of welding and willing to advance and obtain requirements to get certified with Perstorp’s welding procedure if required.
  • Basic typing skills for interfacing with process computer and ERP system (SAP) preferred.
