Overview

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling all work assigned to the maintenance department. This position will drive improvements in efficiency of the maintenance work process.  The role is critical in maintaining a good communication and coordination between maintenance, operations, contractors, vendors, and other internal departments. This role is also responsible of creating and maintaining high quality job packets, SOP’s, and the data integrity in the CMMS.

 

Accountable to the Maintenance Manager for the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities. And any other functions deemed necessary for continuous operations of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize maintenance activities based on Criticality Classification and resource availability.
  • Create a maintenance forecast with upcoming activities and required resources.
  • Properly schedule maintenance tasks (level workload with available recourses).
  • Ensure high efficiency of maintenance support to operations by collaborating with gatekeeper and maintenance supervisors.
  • Revise work requests accurately to define issues and failures.
  • Coordinates and plans material requirements for maintenance task execution.
  • Defines the right stock level of spare parts in the plant to balance proper preventative maintenance stock level while still providing proper stock levels for equipment failures.  Works with Maintenance Supervisors and Stockroom Supervisor to accomplish correct stocking levels.
  • Manages the work order backlog, providing feedback to the maintenance supervisors and gatekeeper.
  • Work with the maintenance team to develop and improve preventive maintenance program. This includes creating new equipment bill of materials, parts kitting, work duration, and PM frequency.
  • Ensure PM compliance and on time completion of all PM’s.
  • Build equipment maintenance records.
  • Responsible for the development of new preventative and predictive maintenance inspections.
  • Oversee work order quality and compliance to SOP and WO process.
  • Report Maintenance KPIs related to planning and scheduling.
  • Take a leadership role in the development and improvement of the maintenance planning and scheduling process.
  • Prepare and create reports that highlight status and opportunities of improvements for maintenance.
  • Take a leadership role in the Annual Maintenance Turnaround, being the site lead on development of the overall plan for the scheduled work. This includes organization of all work related to the Annual Maintenance Turnaround.
  • Take a leadership role in PM optimization.
  • Maintain the CMMS (SAP) by taking charge as the key power user and custodian of the CMMS.
  • Maintains commitment to safety by following established procedures and protocols.
  • Responsible to achieve the Maintenance Planner Scheduler objectives agreed annually.
  • Supports and actively participates in the Site’s development along corporate guidelines
  • Follows all Company policies & procedures and all site health, safety, security and environmental rules.
  • Assures conformance with Company policies & procedures and all site health, safety, security and environmental rules.
  • Actively participates in EHSS programs (i.e. take care observations, safety training, toolbox talks, incident reporting & investigation and safety walks).
  • Performs/supports other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management and support other employees as necessary in a team effort.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience (>2-5 years) in maintenance within a manufacturing, industrial, fabrication, aerial or related industry is required.
  • Experience in planning and scheduling maintenance work in a chemical processing or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in developing job plans for maintenance work in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • SAP PM experience preferred.
  • Computer proficient in MS office and general internet applications.
  • Comply with safety requirements.
