Allied Reliability is seeking a direct hire Reliability Technician for a client location in Traverse City, MI!


The Reliability Technician is responsible for assisting to analyze, understand, and treat negative OEE performance, quality defects, and equipment malfunctions within the facility. They are also responsible to build predictive maintenance routes, develop preventive maintenance procedures, and participate in the maintenance process follow-up.


  • Utilize data, systems, observation and a disciplined approach to identify and address opportunities to improve OEE performance, quality and equipment reliability.
  • Participate in the review and validation of engineering proposals. Coordinate the project documentation and execution to help ensure desired results.
  • Contribute in qualifying new machines or design changes.
  • Suggest the stock level in spare parts to meet proper MTBF and maintenance cost requirements.
  • Utilize vibration data collector/analyzer, IR camera, UE technology and associated software program to detect and identify equipment issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop, perform, audit Condition Based Maintenance routes across the plant.
  • Initiation of Work Orders for corrective work found during equipment monitoring.
  • Commissioning of PdM-related repairs and perform post maintenance follow-up inspections.
  • Participate in failed equipment inspections and failure analysis.
  • Assist Maintenance personnel with equipment/process troubleshooting.
  • Ensure Predictive Maintenance schedule is updated.
  • Audit and analyze Preventive Maintenance program and recommend changes based on failure modes.
  • Mentor others in the facility related to process adherence and continuous improvement while setting the proper example for industrial safety and food safety requirements.
  • Write technical training documents, procedures, instructions and SOP’s for equipment and processes.
  • All other duties as assigned.





  • H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associates degree or 2 years of related post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience as a trainer, maintenance technician and/or supervisor in an industrial manufacturing setting is strongly desired.
  • Experience with writing technical procedures and instructions
  • Food manufacturing experience with knowledge of common practices related to packaging is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Predictive Technologies is highly preferred (vibration, ultrasound, oil analysis, thermographic imaging).
  • Basic knowledge of CMMS.
  • Must be able to understand both written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Must work well with others and be able to lead through influence.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must possess a solid skillset in Microsoft Office and other computer systems.
  • Must have a significant knowledge of mechanical equipment and processing machines.
  • Must be able lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day and be on his/her feet for extended periods of time.
