Allied Reliability is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic in the Atlanta area. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for monitoring the operation of site utility systems and provide maintenance support for production departments and facility.   Maintenance work is a combination of scheduled and unscheduled prioritized by criticality and production urgency.





At least 3+ years of Industrial Chemical maintenance experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing process chemical equipment and utility systems.

  • Work History in an OSHA PSM Covered Chemical plant is prefered
  • Process equipment repairs/rebuilding experience a must
  • Ability to learn process, equipment specifications and company standards by actively consulting resources, associates, manuals, training department and policies
  • Experinece using industrial equipment is prefered i.e. Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, Manlifts, Boom’s, Hoists and Rigging
  • Welding / Pipe Fitting experience is prefered
  • Good practical sense working with and troubleshooting equipment problems. Able to work with minimal supervision within a team environment.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Able to effectively communicate with all members of team.




• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on pumps, gear boxes, pneumatic valves, utility and waste treatment systems, and production equipment; following procedures, work instructions,     diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

• Repairs defective equipment by removal, shop dismantling and re-assembly and re-installation. 

• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

• Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop equipment.

• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.

• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


Required Skills:

  1. Be able to read and understand written work instructions, equipment maintenance manuals, exploded view equipment diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  2. Skilled with operation of basic hand tools and hand-held power tools to complete routine maintenance tasks such as equipment assembly or disassembly, metal-working, wood-working, and piping assembly.
  3. Thoroughly experienced with the safe use of basic machine shop tools such as a band saw, drill press, lathe, and milling machine to complete maintenance tasks involving metal-working and pipe-fitting.
  4. Experienced with basic metal welding and metal cutting techniques. Is proficient in arc-welding, TIG welding, other metal welding methods, and the use of a cutting torch.
  5. Thoroughly experienced with basic pipe-fitting measurement and construction techniques for a variety of threaded and welded piping systems including: PVC, black iron, and stainless steel piping.  Is proficient in shop fabrication of threaded pipe systems, including the operation of a pipe threading machine.
  6. Has extensive experience in following written instructions to assemble complex mechanical devices. Is proficient in disassembly and assembly of plant equipment, including many different types of pumps, blowers, gearboxes, and valves.
  7. Shows field leadership ability and has excellent communication skills. Is able to manage day to day coverage of routine unplanned maintenance tasks for an assigned process area within the plant, without extensive supervision.
  8. Has experience performing maintenance tasks with less experienced co-workers. Is able to train and mentor co-workers to improve the overall knowledge base of the plant maintenance team.
  9. Has good working knowledge of basic computer skills, and is willing to receive training and become proficient in the use of the plant SAP program to perform maintenance-related operations, such as viewing work orders or finding equipment parts.
  10. Willing and physically able to do elevated maintenance work in a noisy industrial environment. Willing and physically able to wear personal protective gear such as a hardhat and safety glasses.  Willing and physically able to wear more extensive personal protective gear such as a chemically resistant rain-suit and a respirator to complete more hazardous maintenance work, on occasion.
  11. Willing to operate large industrial vehicles used in plant maintenance tasks such as a forklift, scissors lift, and boom lift.
  12. Willing to participate in all plant safety programs including on-site safety teams.
