We are seeking a Vehicle Mechanic that can maintain and repair a wide variety of over the snow equipment including, but not limited to, snow removal and heavy equipment, snow grooming machines, snowmobiles, lift APUs and generators. This individual will work on intermediate to advanced level aspects of the maintenance and repairs of company vehicles with little supervision.


  • Inspect, diagnose & repair vehicles and equipment for safe and dependable operation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication and adjustments according to manufacturer’s guidelines on snow removal machines, heavy equipment, snowmobiles, and other company vehicles.
  • Repair, remove and/or replace necessary parts to keep vehicles in operation. This is done both in shop and out on hill.
  • Perform major overhauls on all types of gasoline and diesel engines, gear boxes, differentials, and transmissions.
  • Perform metal repairs/fabrication using all types of welding and cutting tools.
  • Communicate with department heads and employees regarding equipment problems and repairs
  • Complete work orders on all vehicles.
  • Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventory and conserves resources by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate equipment, parts and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Mend damaged body parts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area, follows OSHA safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist with vehicle and equipment operator orientation and training.
  • Follow and adhere to all Hazmat compliance and Spill Prevention Control & Counter measurement Plan (SPCC)
  • Notify supervisors of needed replacement parts, assists with inventory updates
  • Assist in metal repairs and fabrication.
  • Assist with shop AST, UST and daily tank inspections.


Essential Qualification

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 4-7 years of vehicle maintenance and/or mechanical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mechanical experience in Automotive, Truck, Bus, Heavy Equipment, or Fleet diagnostics and repair
  • Strong  experience with  diagnostic tools and computers
  • Able to diagnose and repair electrical and computer systems problems on modern vehicles.
  • Able to diagnose and repair major mechanical systems on modern vehicles.
  • Valid drivers license
  • Knowledge and experience with all typical vehicle repair shop hand tools and equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication background
  • Extensive air system and air brake knowledge
  • Extensive hydraulic system experience
  • Hydraulic system diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics

  • Able to identify and repair all types of mechanical & electrical issues especially when safety is involved.

  • Must be able to assist other employees in diagnosis and repairs.

  • Assists in all other shop duties as assigned. Responsible for all duties assigned by management.
