Overview

We are looking for an Operations Manager to be responsible for the overall management, direction and coordination of plant operations, ensures that company or divisional authority production objectives are met at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements, achieves these objectives by working with key management in all divisional functions including: Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Human Resources, Finance, Environmental, Security, Logistics, Information Services, and Customer Service.

Responsibilities

  • Determines plant policies consistent with company or divisional policies and directs and supervises the application of such policies to the operations.
  • Plans and budgets plant activities in accordance with approved corporate plans and budgets.
  • Coordinates and implements with subordinates and other plant personnel the application of methods, quality assurance and production standards and ensures adherence to safety and environmental programs.
  • Plans, directs and/or reviews all improvements or expansion of operations. Works closely with product and process research and development to introduce agreed program changes.
  • Controls quality, cost of production, warehousing, receiving and shipping of raw materials through appropriate subordinates.
  • Participates directly in the conduct of employee relations.
  • Reviews and approves recommendations of subordinates in matters of personnel or rate changes.
  • Represents the company in the community and promotes the company’s good will and interest in community activities.
  • May have direct contact with customers on complaints and service matters.
  • Coordinates plant operations with appropriate Corporate Executives. Helps develop capital program with senior management and implements approved program.
  • Participates in the sales programs of the plant according to company policies.
  • Reviews organization and manpower plan to ensure that they are consistent and adequate for attainment of division objectives and budget.
  • Sets standards for profitable operation by audit of all functions in the areas of performance to cost, excess labor, automation, upgrading replacement of equipment, new techniques and new projects to expand sales and increase profit.

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred but not mandatory.
  • Computer literate - uses one routinely in their work.
  • Evidence of continuing education and development appropriate for their work, including course work, seminars, and the like.
  • Training in management and organization dynamics is required.
  • Demonstrated growth in responsibility within an organization is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a multifunctional manager is required.
  • A minimum of 15 years supervisory or management experience is required.
  • Experience in a participative, team based organization is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a goals/results oriented business culture is required.
