Overview

Allied Reliability is looking for a Plant Engineering & Maintenance Manager in the Pottsville, PA area. This individual will direct and manage maintenance, project engineering and IT functions of the plant and be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all plant equipment, preventative and predictive maintenance programs, equipment reliability, building and grounds, design and construction of new equipment, revisions to existing equipment and process improvement through engineering improvements. Additional responsibilities include managing IT department personnel and projects. Performs other duties as required to promote overall plant and safety effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Directs all maintenance and local project engineering functions of the plant including the supervision of maintenance department. Ensure equipment and process reliability and stability through process and maintenance methods. Foster service-oriented environment for all process and equipment support functions: Engineer and Maintenance.
  • Works closely with Production Supervisor/Manager on all problems and improvements related to machine/equipment design. Assist Reliability Engineer in implementing reliability in design of new equipment. Ensures all process equipment condition and procedures exceed company and industry standards for safety. Lead improvements to safety as identified in Plant Safety Committee and audits.
  • Ensures manufacturing processes are capable with respect to Critical to Quality “CTC” quality characteristics. Oversee Engineers to Improve process control through statistical methods, machine control and procedures. Lead plant Six Sigma and various continuous improvement programs.
  • Responsible for directing training and developing employees to be more proficient at their jobs. This includes writing procedures for trouble-shooting equipment and developing leadership skills of Maintenance Supervisor, Reliability Engineer and Project Engineer (or similar positions for plants which do not have both positions).
  • Chief Project Engineer for plant. Develop capital project plan and budget, submit and execute local projects as necessary. Periodically reviews cost YTD and take action to meet budget targets. Manage budgets to annual operating plan.
  • Provides direction and support to Division Engineering and outside contractors during project installations and startups. Lead plant efforts to qualify new products and run trials with R&D.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and fluid power equipment of manufacturing plant. Directs the development and deployment of preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Environmental Coordinator for plant ensuring compliance with applicable City, State and Federal regulations. Filing necessary reports and permits. Hazardous waste and used oil disposal. Radiation survey and waste water monitoring
  • Determines capabilities and limitations of process equipment in order to improve rates and efficiencies. Develop KPIs for maintenance department to support and achieve KPIs in Operations. Periodically review KPIs and take action to ensure targets will be met. Improve product cost through productivity and efficiency improvements: yield, rate and uptime.
  • Consults with external customers and suppliers as required to perform duties.
  • Oversees IT function and projects and manages IT department personnel.
  • Audit maintenance department work processing through standard work.
  • Execute personnel actions to comply with human resources processes such as performance reviews, development plans and succession planning for key maintenance, engineering and IT positions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or similar technical degree (MS preferred)
  • 7+ years' experience in manufacturing/maintenance leadership
  • Strong understanding of general maintenance areas (e.g., electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics)
  • Ability to influence teams and drive change and can foster a culture of safety
  • Six sigma/lean knowledge strongly preferred
