  • Overview

    The Senior Strategic Sourcing Agent will lead and execute sourcing, procurement, and vendor management activities for assigned electronics commodities, including PCBAs, electrical assemblies, motors, batteries, and adaptors. An effective Senior Strategic Sourcing Agent will perform demand and supply analysis to develop and support sourcing strategies, negotiate and manage contracts, evaluate and monitor supplier performance to enhance overall competitive advantage.  

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including but not limited to:

    • Develop and implement global procurement and sourcing strategies for electronics category to result in the use of highest value suppliers while optimizing TVO. This includes market analysis, supply chain risk assessment, source selection, and contract negotiation.
    • Identify and qualify potential suppliers, evaluate and communicate performance, manages and develops long-term partnerships with suppliers to enhance overall capabilities and result in more efficient product development and a more agile supply chain
    • Work closely with our external suppliers and our internal cross functional teams to proactively identify opportunities for implementation of emergent technologies, cost savings, lead time reductions, working capital improvements, quality enhancements, and improved service levels
    • Review industry leading commodity cost indicators and publications to drive competitive costing and mitigate cost associated risk.
    • Acts as Procurement liaison for specified new product launches and manages corresponding CBOM and sourcing activities
    • Manages product life cycle issues to ensure minimal impact from obsolescence.
    • Collaborates with Production Planning team to optimize inventory levels and material flow while minimizing stock-out risks.
    • Identify and executes process improvement projects to increase the operating efficiencies.
    • Negotiates prices, terms, lead time reductions with suppliers
    • Leads sourcing activities for electronics and directs corresponding RFQ activity
    • Issues purchase orders and maintain the status and information accuracy.
    • Will initially be involved with buying and expediting

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required. Electrical Engineering concentration preferred.
    • Minimum of five years of global purchasing/sourcing experience.  Consumer electronics, electronic components strongly preferred.
    • Proven ability to identify, qualify, and partner with capable electronics component suppliers globally, primarily in Asia and the US.
    • Proven negotiation skills that result in favorable cost savings for company
    • Proven ability to identify alternate electronic components that minimize lead time and cost while maximizing quality performance, including motors, motor assemblies, batteries, PCBAs and corresponding components, cables and adaptors.
    • Familiar with cost model, make vs. buy analysis, industry tools and market intelligence to improve supply performance.
    • Experience in manufacturing environment with both high and low volume products.
    • Working knowledge of quality systems and lean/continuous improvement processes.
    • Strong analytical skills, high level of interpersonal, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Knowledge/fluency in Mandarin and/or Spanish a plus.
    • Proficient in Microsoft offices and AS/400 applications.
    • Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics is helpful.
    • Ability to travel approximately 10-15% (domestic and international)
