    Title:  Process Engineer

    Position Location:  Cedar Rapids, IA


    Primary Function

    Provide technical support and leadership to the assigned department in meeting safety, quality, production and cost goals. Identify, develop and implement process improvements.  Accountable for timely delivery of process engineering deliverables in a cross functional environment.  


    Supervision: No direct reports


    Key Deliverables:


    • Utilizing lean principles, analyze process conditions and operational activities to propose corrective actions as needed to ensure the process operates in a cost effective and efficient manner.
    • Assist Operations and Maintenance with troubleshooting of processing equipment, and increase process reliability through the use of root cause analysis.
    • Assist in the day to day activities of the operation to produce products of sufficient quality and quantity to meet the projected demands of customers.
    • Incorporate Safety, Health and Environmental compliance requirements into process improvements.
    • Develop, evaluate and seek approval for process modifications and optimization programs to improve the efficiency and capability of plant processes.
    • Implement improvement initiatives in conjunction with Operations and Maintenance.
    • Lead or participate in strategic process initiatives and studies. Assist in the training and coaching of operations personnel in operational techniques and standard operating procedures.
    • Participate on continuous improvement teams made up of peers throughout the Ingredion network.
    • Assist in mentoring of less experienced engineers


    Qualification Requirements:


    • BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering discipline.
    • 5+ years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.      
    • Ability to communicate across functional lines at all levels.
    • Decision making ability, planning and time management skills.
    • Experience with corn wet milling or wet grain processing highly preferred.
