  • Overview

    The rail manager overseas the movement and distribution of rail operations. Responsible for the management and supervision of rail supervisors and crew members under the rail and transfer daily operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Management of the rail operations, coordinating with the rail planner, supervisors and crew members
    • Periodical reporting on key performance indicators (KPI) to the HSEQ department
    • Make sure all necessary quality documentation is in place for daily operations and procedures.
    • Coordinate between supervisors and rail planner the necessary documentation needed for the day.
    • Evaluation and planning of personnel shifts based on rail car planning.
    • Supervise the performance with respect to quality, housekeeping, and organization of the rail crew.

    • Follow up on the correct company procedures, instructions, documents according to the Quality Manual
    • In case of serious complaints or accidents, investigate the EVENT in strong coordination with all involv
    • Assist the Commercial department whenever requested for receives and guide visitors on the facility.
    • Determining costs and investments for customer requests. Requiring regular feedback from the customer as to operational performance.
    • Wear Personal Protection Equipment and follow all Safety Procedures outlined by OSHA regulations.

    • Reasoning ability: Solve practical problems, interpret instructions, and deal with a variety of variables.
    • Work environment: Able to work in a fast paced moderate environment, and various temperatures to complete warehouse tasks. Ability to work in an environment that includes dust and other debris to receive, store, and ship materials, supplies, and/or other equipment.
    • Physical Activities: Ability to perform physical activities that require lifting, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs. to receive, store, and ship materials, supplies and/or equipment. Ability to stand and perform work duties for an extended period of time.
    • Noise Level: Able to work in a moderate noise environment (Office with printers, phones and light traffic). Ability to handle up to 85 decibels of noise per 8 hour shifts due to heavy machinery and rolling equipment within the terminal, all according to OSHA permissible exposure limits
    • Close vision (clear vision at 20” or less), Color vision (Identify and distinguish colors), and Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area while eyes are fixed on a given point.) Depth perception (3D vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships).
    • Work other than normal scheduled hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor required or equivalent experience. At least 2 year(s) of experience in supervision and rail operations preferred
    • Experience in an operational management position in a similar environment is essential.
    • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Internet Explorer). SAP and other customer computer systems.
    • Thorough knowledge of all procedures, instructions and documents of the Quality Manual
    • Knowledge of all KTN-software relevant for this function.
    • Language skills: ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
    • Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measurements. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Skilled in problem solving, planning /organizing, customer service, able to work in a team environment. Skilled in written communication and Quality driven.
    • Experienced in managing a medium size group of people in a similar production environment.
    • Must possess the skills to provide quality customer service including the ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations
