Overview

The Director of Continuous Improvement System (CIS) will facilitate the deployment of a standard production system in the plant by developing and coordinating the implementation of Continuous Improvement System (CIS).

 

The Director provides leadership and direction to drive the implementation of CIS principals throughout all operations and processes; coordinates the development and implementation of the CIS to support meeting stated business objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Culture.

 

The Director will oversee the strategic and day-to-day Continuous Improvement culture of the plant to cross-functionally execute the lean transformation.

Responsibilities

Create an environment where all employees have increased opportunities to contribute to the success of the enterprise and the security of their future through Continuous Improvement efforts

  • Engage employees to support the development of the Continuous Improvement System and deploy its techniques and philosophy to the whole facility
  • Serve as the plant’s internal CI Calibration Expert, and play a key role in the development of a Centralized Continuous Improvement system as the Director will be responsible for continuously reviewing, developing, and standardizing CIS methods and tools
  • Build and maintain he foundation of Continuous Improvement by ensuring the effective functional of transformation activities aligned to a Lean Operating facility
  • Responsibilities include coordinating and auditing the application of lean as well as making sure that the application is evolving and improving over time. Assist in determining financial and environmental impacts for improvement activities
  • Define the implementation strategy of the team structure for the plant, as well as support and coordination of the implementation process
  • Enable all people in plant operations to do their job in the best possible way under optimum conditions, supporting them in the identification and elimination of waste as well as increasing productivity
  • Mentor focused process improvement projects as part of our Lean transformation and monitor other Lean (Kaizen) events as deployed by the teams
  • Collaborate cross-functionally in the development, alignment and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives to ensure the support and sustainability of the Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Provide strategic leadership to process owners and team members to govern improvement efforts across the organization focusing on customer satisfaction, waste elimination, cost reduction, and cycle time reduction
  • Provide technical and business support to the overall deployment of new Continuous process improvement initiatives across the plant with a focus on experimentation of new theories or the techniques in anticipation of future steps ahead of the current deployment process
  • Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing (e.g., safety, worker engagement, training, housekeeping, cost optimization, waste implementation, etc.)
  • Engages plant management and employees in conceptualizing, planning, implementing, and sustaining Continuous Improvements using the CIS and Lean Manufacturing tools

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

Minimum Years of Experience Required:

  • Ten (10) Years’ Experience in a manufacturing management role with educational requirements; preferably in assembly operations and/or related industry
  • Fifteen (15) Years’ Experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer (or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer)  without educational requirements
